The Bottom Line
Serial killer Henry is back and finds himself in a new town, working as a laborer. He befriends a co-worker that does side work as an arsonist and who eventually is pulled into helping Henry with his killing spree.
Pros:
-More bloodshed in sequel than in original film.
-Acting performances mostly believable, but not near the level of first film.
-Passable psychological thriller that die hard slasher fans can appreciate.
Cons:
-Lead character re-cast in this film, which I think was a grave mistake.
-This was one of those unnecessary sequels that ultimately didn’t live up to its predecessor.
-Not much suspense here; and it definitely hurt the film.
-Characters written a bit off the wall – very nutty at best, even for me.
In this serial killing sequel, actor Neil Guintoli takes over where originally cast Michael Rooker left off. I have to say that replacement of actors hurt the film immensely.
They did however manage to bring more gore this time around, and the imagery was likeably disturbing for horror fans.
The storyline lacked in originality as it was almost a complete copy of the first film, just changing up a couple of characters.
All in all, the movie was tolerable to watch, but not on the same level as the first film which engrossed my attention the entire time.
